MALAWI
The below information is a brief summary of customs regulations when you plan your international shipping to Malawi, Always double check with your local embassy or consulate to make sure you have all the information you need before you make your move. Contact the nearest Malawi Embassy.
When you plan your international shipping to Malawi, the following documents are required for customs clearance:
- Residence or Work Permit
- Form 21 (Bill of Entry) which needs signed only
- Passengers Baggage Declaration (Form 47) or Settler’s Declaration (Form P 54) depending on size of shipment
- Inventory (giving serial numbers for TVs and VCRs)
When shipping goods overseas to Malawi, the following items customs guidelines will need to be met:
- CUSTOMER MUST BE IN COUNTRY AT TIME OF CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
- USED HOUSEHOLD GOODS AND PERSONAL EFFECTS DUTY-FREE IF:
- Arriving within six months of Customer
- Were owned by Customer for a minimum of six months and are for Customer’s own use
- Goods are not sold or disposed of while in Malawi
- Are in reasonable quantities
- Shipments may be inspected
When shipping goods overseas to Malawi, The following items are dutiable and/or restricted:
- Items owned less than six months
- Books/magazines subject to censorship
When shipping goods overseas to Malawi, the following items are prohibited, but not limited to, from entry into the country:
- Firearms are subject to Police Permit
- Ammunition
- Radio equipment
- Pornographic material
- Plants/seeds
When shipping Motor Vehicles overseas to Malawi, the following documents and regulations will apply:
- Value may not exceed K500
- One auto per family
- Auto must have been owned and used by Customer for a year or more prior to importation or arrival of the Customer and cannot be lent or sold within one year of Customs clearance
Moving Pets to Malawi, The following documents must be presented for the importation of pets:
- Import Permit obtained from the Veterinary Department is required
- Copies of Vaccination Certificates
