The below information is a brief summary of customs regulations when you plan your international shipping to Chile. Always double check with your local embassy or consulate to make sure you have all the information you need before you make your move. Contact the nearest Chile Embassy.

When you plan your international shipping to Chile, The following documents are required for customs clearance:

  • Visa
  • Work Contract
  • Power of Attorney
  • Inventory (each liftvan in shipment must have separate inventory for clearance)

When shipping goods overseas to Chile, The following items customs guidelines will need to be met:

  • CUSTOMER MUST BE IN COUNTRY AT TIME OF CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
  • Returning Chileans and anyone coming to work in Chile are exempt from duties on their household goods and personal effects

When shipping goods overseas to Chile, The following items are dutiable and/or restricted:

  • Sporting guns (owner must obtain carrying permit at the Weapons Control Bureau)
  • Alcohol and tobacco products
  • New furniture is dutiable (invoices required)
  • Caviar, pearls, synthetic furs, uncut precious, semi-precious or synthetic stones (only for personal use)

When shipping goods overseas to Chile, The following items are prohibited from entry into the country:

  • Firearms/weapons
  • Drugs (unless for medical purposes)
  • Pornographic material

When shipping Motor Vehicles overseas to Chile, The following documents and regulations will apply:

  • Duties are very high and are based on make, model, year, engine’s cubic capacity, transmission type, extras, and purchase value
  • Only returning Chileans and duty exempted persons may import USED vehicles
  • Documents required:
    • Original Invoice of Purchase

Moving Pets to Chile: The following documents must be presented for the importation of pets:

  • Health Certificate with appropriate vaccinations required
