The below information is a brief summary of customs regulations when you plan your international shipping to Liberia, Always double check with your local embassy or consulate to make sure you have all the information you need before you make your move. Contact the nearest Liberia Embassy.

When you plan your international shipping to Liberia, the following documents are required for customs clearance:

  • Inventory (in English)
  • Certificate of Residence Change
  • Letter authorizing Destination Agent to clear shipment
  • Invoice

When shipping goods overseas to Liberia, the following items customs guidelines will need to be met:

  • CUSTOMER MUST BE PRESENT AT CLEARANCE
  • Only used household goods and personal effects allowed and must not be for sale
  • New items and tobacco products dutiable

When shipping goods overseas to Liberia, the following items are prohibited, but not limited to,  from entry into the country:

  • Weapons and ammunition
  • Products which are also manufactured in Liberia (i.e. fabrics, batteries, matches, etc.)
  • Narcotic drugs

When shipping Motor Vehicles overseas to Liberia, the following documents and regulations will apply:

  • New Vehicle: commercial invoice signed, sealed and stamped with the year model, color, chassis number, engine capacity, original bill of lading.
  • Used Vehicle: subject to appraisal by customs authorities
  • Duty rates on autos: from 38 to 60% depending on vehicle type and engine capacity. Customs tariff.
